It is not about the money it is about sending a message to the unions.

You can put any time period ( including 21s century) and it’s would still be true.

Nothing fuels a budget like the sheer spite of a 19th century tycoon.

It’s less about the money itself and more the principle and progression of principles. It would probably cost about the same to pay everybody well as it does to fight having to pay them well, but then they’ll eventually have to fight the battles over paid time off, sick leave, maternity leave, health and dental insurance, any company programs or funds that have to do with school or emergencies, or a hundred other important things. But as long as they can keep you fighting to survive, they don’t have to worry about you trying to thrive.

I like this meme but who’s kidding who; it’s not about money.

It’s about endless, masturbatory, sociopathic power over others. Money is just a facilitator for that. The boot on someone else’s neck is the actual, perpetual goal.

Money isn’t an issue when pride is on the line. The poors are forgetting their “place”, and those at the top will do anything to make sure they stay “superior”.

    7. Preety sure most rich pepole care less about there lives being good and more about there lives being better than other pepoles.

They care more about maintaining class difference than their actual material wealth. That’s why NYC billionaires paid more in campaign donations against Mamdani than what he was planning on taxing them

    9. Im sure the cost work out. Paying for strike breakers or lawyers or whatever is expensive. When things are going fine you dont pay a thing. Paying wages permanently raises your operating cost. So you can afford to do a lot of strike breaking and fight a lot of lawsuits before it becomes worth it, even if your workers strike every few months.

If it made economic sense to simply pay workers more you can bet they wouldve done it in a heartbeat and there would be no need for workers protections laws.

Because strikebreakers, private security, bribes, lobbying, and lawyers are way cheaper than wages.

Till the 60er it was common to work on Saturday. Until the workers wanted more time for there family’s. All ceos acted as this would be the end of there busines.

One is treating worker better which could lead to even more demands. And it’s usually a permanent thing that requires constant payout.

The other is paying a few people extraordinary prices to keep the current status quo. And it’s hell lot cheaper to pay 50 guys extremely well then to pay 5,000 marginally better.
