as soon as you muster enough courage, get that sucker out, that’s going to be gnarly when it starts pushing

    2. That’s rough buddy, my two bottom ones looked just like that. I honestly felt like something was about to give out in my jaw when they really started pressing.

Edit: I was supposed to say don’t put it off also.

As someone who just went to the dentist for the first time in 10 years (out of fear) get it sorted! I thankfully don’t have any wisdom teeth genetically.

You are in for a great time at the dentist

    5. hey, fun! welcome to the club. all 5 (extra bottom left) of mine were also impacted. glad my dad’s insurance wouldn’t cover anesthesia so got to be awake for all the cracking and pulling. recommend going under for the procedure if you can!

my dad’s wisdom teeth are all sideways like this. he’s never gotten them removed because they never started moving and hurting him, but when he goes to the dentist they make sure to keep an eye on them I think

I only have 3 and they’re horizontal too!! Never had issues with them and I’m nearly 40… both my parents still have theirs too, my mom also only has 3.

Mine are like that, but they’re so deep in the gum and don’t touch any other teeth they’ll never come out so they’re not a problem for me.

Mine’s like that too I think. No x-ray but feeling around with my finger it feels like the side sticks out of my gums a bit. Doesn’t hurt and my dentist has just said, “well if it’s not hurting you then it’s not worth the cost to pull out.”

Atleast yours is above the gums. All of mine are not only sideways but below the gums

Same thing happened to me, bottom ones looked like that, the top ones were coming out at 45 degrees (basically slicing my cheeks every time I opened/closed my mouth).

Had all 4 removed in one sitting. Tbh the procedure itself was no big deal, dentist gave me a shitload of drugs and I just giggled my way through it.

Once the meds started to wear off on the way home it definitely hurt a fair bit, but the next morning the pain had worn away and I just had to deal with about a week or so of not brushing waiting for the incisions to heal.

Mine were impacted as well. Surgeon couldnt avoid damaging nerves so a small section of my chin and the gum behind it is numb (it’s probably 70% healed after 2.5 years).

    13. Makes me think of the Mitch Hedberg joke about wanting one solid curvy tooth that went around instead of small individual teeth.

    14. Normal, 3 of mine came in this way. Get them out as soon as you can before they start pushing on your other teeth as it can start pushing on the roots of the next molar and become painful + hard to remove.

    15. My bottom row wisdom teeth did this. They never reached the other molars so they weren’t removed. I’m 36 now. No issues.

Why is everyone telling OP to go see a dentist when we’re looking at an x ray done by a dentist office? Surely they have spoken to one

    17. TheOgGhadTurner on

Fairly normal. Also fairly painful and if you have more than one impacted get them all done together. You won’t go back for the rest no matter how much you say you will.

Happened to me. Had them removed. When I woke and the nurse asked if I needed anything. Apparently I told her I need some pussy.. my wife told me I was yelling it.. embarrassing.

    19. Yeesh. I guess I have a wisdom tooth just hanging out on my upper left side. Dentist said it’s too far up to ever break thru and as long as it isn’t causing me any pain it’ll just stay there.

    20. It happens. All four of my wisdom teeth were impacted. The top two were rotated like that. One had a root wrapped around the nerve. The oral surgeon said he had to cut it into like seven pieces. But he got it out without damaging the nerve.

Wisdom teeth are weird. My dad never had his removed. Mine never game me any trouble until I was in my mid-20s. My sister was told she didn’t have any. Then she started getting these terrible headaches. Turns out she had six wisdom teeth.
