Italian singer Adriano Celentano released a song in the 70s with nonsense lyrics meant to sound like American English, apparently to prove Italians would like any English song. It was a huge hit. “Prisencolinensinainciusol” (1973)

Some defect in my brain makes pretty much every song I hear make about this much sense.
If I read the lyrics alongside listening to the song it’ll make sense, otherwise, just a catchy tune.
I suppose the copyright rules were pretty loose back then. Pretty sure my 5-year-old sister composed this while playing with her Barbie pool set
Quite the production! Humans used to do such fun things.
Catchy as hell; I can see why this succeeded.
He could have released the same single again and pretended it was Dutch, works just as well.

I understood every word, but then, I am fluent in pig Latin….
I have the 12 inch Skillrex remix of this
This is one of my favorite things that pops up on reddit once in a while. It would suck, except this song is a fucking masterpiece.
Fuck your verse-chorus-verse shit, this is pseudo-rap in fucking pseudo-English.
Plus look at the outfits and the choreography.
I’m on this guy’s side.

I’ve seen another video of this but this one is really cool. Thanks for sharing. Great use of mirrors. Maybe someday we’ll get a remastered version of this one.

This has been on Reddit for years. When I first saw it I played it for my kids and they loved it. My youngest must have listened to it for ever.
Because when it came up in the ceremonies for the Winter Olympics my kid shocked everyone around her (watching at school) when she knew the “words” by heart.
I’m ashamed to admit how often I think about this song.
Although I’m used to the version of the video where they’re all sitting in school desks…
Ah yes, the Bi-Annual Prisencolinensinainciusol event on Reddit.
It’s a good time to buy the one where he has all the class in desks is even better. Watch this whole thing people.

This song is an absolute jam.
The beat is awesome!
I grew up in Italy, and I can’t possibly explain how popular Adriano Celentano was.
Oh, and Raffaella Carrà, who is also in the video.
It’s as understandable as your average Dylan folk track…
Alright!
Here we go again with this… It is catchy though.
jokes on them, i like it too
Maybe the fact that it’s a banger had something to do with its success…

What the hell did I just get hypnotized to do?
This is such a jam
