I grew up super poor and this was a dream come true. For a week, it worked perfectly and was like a real friend. Had the books and accompanying cassettes. He told me the stories. On the second week, the little sister of my next door friend, got hold of it while I was doing some other shit, and she tried to feed it sand. It jammed up the mouth and eye mechanisms and it became a bear with a tape player in its back. When I got into music, for real, 5 years later, this was my cassette player. Just his lifeless face staring at me while I listened to Bell Biv Davoe and NKOTB. Yea, I am from Boston.

That transition from magical best friend to a haunted cassette player is the most 80s heartbreak I’ve ever heard
Color photography existed in 1986. Lol
You looked so happy to see Teddy 🤗
Ooh you got one! Those were too expensive for my parents ☹
Show us on the bear where Teddy touched you.
I had one too and I loved him
That thing came out in 1985?!? I loved that show and was super jealous of my friend that had the talking doll.
There was a Teddy Ruxpin cartoon show that me and my siblings thought was awesome. None of us cared about the toy, but we really liked the show.
We used to jam a lot of Metallica on my Homie’s little sister’s Teddy Ruxbin. Seeing it sing Last Caress was something else and I’m sorry you never got to see yours sing Poison. My condolences for your friend and a pox on the house of your neighbor and his little sister’s house. Rest in Power, King
I got one in 90 and felt the same way
I have one upstairs in the attic, may the him out and see if I can clean him up…I am kind of sad now, like I lost seomething
Teddy was the coolest
