Known as the chief of all Greek river gods, Achelous represents water’s life-giving and chaotic powers. The statuette captures Achelous as a river-god with a human face and a bull's body, reflecting his shifting, chthonic nature. The horns on this small figurine are missing, but traces remain.

    1. Achelous is best known for battling Heracles for Deianira. He transformed first into a serpent, then into a bull. While Achelous was in his bull form, Heracles ripped off one of his horns which then became the Cornucopia, or horn of plenty.

I thought it was a statue of the dog man from Invasion of the Body Snatchers at first glance.
