i guess all she needed for a character reference was a mirror instead of a model lol

I just love that Axe Battler, Legend of the Golden Axe, has a dude with a sword on the cover.

I saw a post about Frank Frazetta and looked up the other seminal fantasy artist, Boris Vallejo. In the process I discovered he and Julie Bell have been married for more than 30 years.

Talk about a creative power couple.

She reminds me of those posts that get 100 upvotes when just the art is posted and 100,000 upvotes when it’s a photo of the artist standing next to the art.

Julie bell and boris vallejo was the catalyst that kick started my art journey and to this day her work is still up there for me

Wow. I have definitely enjoyed her art! Fascinating she used herself as a template

    11. I love that art style. Reminds me of all those 80s fantasy book covers from my older brothers collection as a kid.

Had to look up if she did the cover art for battletech only to find out that was her husband’s work (Boris Vallejo).
