I don’t follow wright lifting, but wouldn’t part of the reason to ban steroids is that they can be dangerous and unhealthy for the user? If anything I think the better analogy would be plastic surgery, Botox, lip filler, or whatever.

No, he’s 100% correct. If you’re allowed to use makeup in a beauty pagent, then it’s just a cosmetics competition.

That’s why it’s perfectly fine to be a host of child beauty pagents. It’s not about making little children look as close as close as possible to sexually-mature teenagers, it’s just a makeup competition.

The guys who prefer women caked with makeup don’t really like women.

    4. i get the point but this comparison makes no sense. If you had the example of the equivalent of female beauty contests to men, which is bodybuilding competitions, than it would make some sense. But then bodybuilding competitions also allow unnatural enhancement of physical looks (via steroids). So yeah, dumb comparison

beauty contests are for whoever can hide their face under the most amount of layers

    6. He’s not right either. Steroids aren’t banned because they give an unfair advantage, they’re banned because they’re extremely harmful. Makeup is a beauty tool like fashion, diet, and exercise.

Nothing to think about, Steroids will destroy your body and your mind. Makeup washes off and only really highlights what is already there. Not even remotely the same.

When I was 12 I supported this, but now that that I’m an adult I realize they let people race with cars in NASCAR, but not track and field because they’re different sports.

      They are fundamentally different things.

      – Sports/lifting involves training.

      – Beauty involves luck and genes.

A better equivalent to your statement is “plastic surgery to beauty completions is the same as steroids are to sports.” So you would ban plastic surgery which makes sense.

Makeup just gets everyone on the same playing field eliminating birth luck

I mean it seems like make up use is part of a beauty contest neh? If you want accurate comparisons it’s more like mister universe vs beauty contests. Both have makeup use involved.

Yeah. Any enhancer should be banned from any competition.

Except one poses serious health issues and the other doesn’t (except for maybe mental)

Because everything is judged on the same set of rules as everything else? This is just sexism packaged as (bad) logic

Make up requires skill, injecting roids doesn’t. Not even remotely similar.

Amount of weight one can lift is a more objective measurement than beauty, so it’s hard to call “advantage” into the equation. But then I think makeup *is* considered carefully depending on the nature of the contest in question. At least I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case, though I’m no expert on these things.

    17. pierrotmoon1 on

Except those are not competitions they are marketing stunts for cosmetics.

    18. wonderlandresident13 on

Makeup is required in beauty pageants so that the contestants’ features are still visible from farther away. It’s the same reason stageplay actors wear makeup

Ok I used to think this untill i came across as makeup vid in yt shorts, that’s some magic vodo stuff. Feel like you could call it art of a sort which i think makes sense in a beauty contest, def diff from steroids to me

    20. DedeLionforce on

One is about your body being able to lift things by training and conditioning NOT by assistance of drugs.

The other is the entire point, to make the face as beautiful as possible which would specifically include make-up.

This meme is one of the dumbest ones that gets repeated and it’s a self-own every time.

    21. Is it banned? I feel like all those gigantic dudes are on roids, if it is banned they must just be using some method to hide it on drug tests.

    22. onemansquest on

This is a fact. However you be surprised in who starts winning more.
