Just lucky that in my city(Seattle), they’ve already made it clear that the data centers will be 100% responsible for their energy needs. Meaning they either need to pay up front for ALL of it, or generate the power themselves. They made it clear that residents will NOT be responsible for subsidizing their crazy power needs. The fact that this is the exception and not the rule is insane though.
