I randomly thought about this series the other day. I’m still not over the time I wasted on it.

It’s hard to tell if that’s a collective endorsement, or a collective rejection, that so many people bought the books but then didn’t want to hold onto them.

I enjoyed Eragon as a kid, but for some reason we owned every book, but the second one.

This is all over thrift book stores for 10+ years now. Is it really *that* bad? Or did that damn Eragon film ruin in for curious tweens everywhere?

Not one copy of Inheritance lol

A guess… Read by a class and donated by a teacher who never wants to read them again

I could use a full set of those… never got around to reading them

I bet that they have one designated to Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon series if they haven’t dumped them yet.
Books that garner a lot of attention but have low rereading value tend to lie in used books stores in obscene quantities.
Da Vinci Code probably used to be the book most common in charity shops

I read the books and enjoyed them. Eldest had a few slower parts and>! Sapphira crushing on the other dragon made me cringe a bit.!<
It’s been many years, but I recall thinking the 3rd book was my least favorite of the lot.
The movie was… *not* Eragon, and as long as you can separate the the books and the movie, the movie is watchable.

I am biased because I loved Eragon growing up. I bought every book and read the shit out of them! Still have all the books on my shelf today.

Used book stores are so confusing. It’s the most obvious thing in the world that they’re never going to sell the books they’ve covered up with extra copies of something no one wants. Charity shops I can understand it. But if it’s own business..

The real question is, why is this store still accepting copies of this book?

All of them are so awesome I reread the whole series every year

If you like dragon books, there is a whole discord server dedicated to them called the bookwyrm lair
I like to meet the authors there.
This is a good book but who knows why there’s overstock

I live in a third world country where some of these second hand books are shipped. Everytime I ask about this series from my books guy, the second book is always available but the third one is never available. First one is a hit or miss.

Yo in all seriousness, as somebody who never read this as a kid, is it worth reading as an adult?

Both the author’s parents were in the publishing industry, I’ll leave it at that.

The second book has a long shift from the main character to set stuff up, it is amazing pay off, but that book is like 800 pages and you REALLY feel it in the middle. I definitely dropped it as a kid bc I did not give af about Roran. Picked it back up in my early teens and absolutely loved it

Yeah, I don’t see any Inheritance, they must have given up at the third book, understandable.

And thats the one I was missing a hard copy of so just bought the entire series again on handover 🤣
