In February 1954, shortly after the war ended, Marilyn Monroe traveled to South Korea and performed for around 100,000 American soldiers over several shows. She sang songs like “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” and “I Wanna Be Loved by You” at military bases. Despite freezing weather, she wore glamorous stage outfits, which made the performances legendary among troops.

This visit became one of the most iconic morale-boosting entertainment tours in military history. Monroe herself later said it was one of the most rewarding experiences of her career because of how much joy it brought to the soldiers.
