It was a real tragedy when the Roman Empire fell and we couldn’t have vast numbers of casualties any more…

Sir Arthur did not recover from the economic hit caused by the lost of the 2 mules. And subsequently had to marry his daughter off to Lord Edmund, whom his vast wealth as a merchant gained him now more political influence through his daughter-in-law.
Sir Dane, the son of Sir Arthur, with the financial backing of Lord Edmund, will later in a year lead a party of 10 men to join the King Richard in his quelling on the rebellion of the East Nambitania. The result of suppressing the revolt and the loyalty and the bravery shown by Sir Dane and his men, would result in the later group to return with enough loot and glory that would once more save Sir Arthur from his debts.
Some historians, arguably, Jame the Young, and Stephan of Smarllion, would add a note that seems more like the sarcasm of times than objective time recording: “Sir Dane and his party, albeit missing 3 men reported to be dead and another reported to have gone missing, would return with 2 new mules”.

It’s crazy how long this gap continued. The battle of Alte Veste was the biggest battle during the 30 years war, fought in 1632. It included about 40 000 men on either side, which while impressive is basically the size of the average battle between Hannibal and the Romans. Both armies combined in that battle were the size of only the Roman field army which was destroyed at Cannae. The only European battle before 1700 which eclipsed the Romans is the siege of Vienna, which included about 150 000 Ottomans vs about 90 000 defenders and relief force.

2 mules?
How will their economy ever recover?

Minor Chinese border skirmish 1000 km from Capital in 245 BC.
450,000 dead, 80,000 prisoners crucified, 400 year old dynasty falls, 15 year long famine kills 15 million people, hardly mentioned in history books.

It will take them years to recover from the loss of those mules
