An imitation of no one else’s voice and a voice no one else can imitate. And a REAL BAND. Thanks for posting. It’s a great song.

I remember when this came out and the running joke was

Hey take a shower. I think was 16 years old

    3. As a Gen X’r, I have noticed a resurgence of this song in the last few weeks. Anyone care to explain what I am missing? I’m here for it, just wondering why it’s coming back now?

Just the 30 year window of cool?

I thought this was Janeane Garofalo in a cool hat for a long time

    5. I wanted to have her hair so bad in the 90’s. Knew nothing about locs – but it was so cool.

This song is in my all timer karaoke list. Friends in Low Places, Only Wanna Be With You, Man in the Mirror, and Bust a Move are also up there.

Linda Perry is an icon. She wrote Get the Party Started for Pink, Miss Independent & Breakaway for Kelly Clarkson. She also penned Fighter, Beautiful, and Candyman for Xtina.

The relief I felt when the camera finally panned up and they were, in fact, non blondes.

    9. **Dean Ween:** I don’t remember where I was, or what I was doing, but I remember hearing it and thinking, “This is the most obnoxious fucking hollering I’ve ever heard in my life.” I could envision the horrible, horrible female that was singing it, and I knew that it was gonna be a hit, just by how bad I hated it. I knew that it was going to be played for years by every fucking bad girl band that came through my local bar, and sung on every karaoke night for the rest of time. I was just instantly overcome with a sense of dread, and of course it’s all come to pass. Then I saw the video for it, and the people that I imagined would be so loathsome as to make such a piece of shit of a song looked identical to what I imagined them to be in my mind.

This is my go to karaoke song. I can’t hold a tune in a bucket but can yell “Hey!”

45 here, the 90s were great, not from nostalgia standpoint but because it actually was.

I’m not a doctor, but if I was I’d tell ya that singing this song as loud as you possibly freaking can is one of the best things you can do for your well being.

    13. I didn’t discover Linda Perry until more recently. I got excited and tried to download her cannon only to find that there isn’t much. I read/heard a recent interview where she said she career shifted into producing and is coming out with some new music. Everything I can find about her exudes authenticity and integrity. Just for the record, I’m an old straight man that thinks she’s an awesome human being. Thanks Linda for being you.
