    1. How often has this happened in history

      “3-day special military operation”

And many more of these cases.

War was basically already over by that point, all the US did was speed up the process

    3. We really only showed up to shore up the lines and make a few gains against the Germans. Still cost us over a hundred thousand KIA, but that’s not a lot compared to how many the Brits and French lost since 1914. The US didn’t “win” WW1 for the Entente, but we did help towards the end. The millions of French and British fighting men did far more.

Edit: Our troop contribution was late in the war, but the supplies and munitions the US sent over to help the Entente throughout the entire war was also a huge help to France and the UK.

Why are there such obsesion to make USA look as this some sort of superhero?

    5. Show up late, capitalize on the psychological effects caused by our presence, get drunk, pour gasoline everywhere, sleep with tons of local women, fumble our way into victory, lose a fraction of men compared to our allies, take credit for winning

      That’s America, baby! 🇺🇸

      (Not applicable to the sequel)

    6. I think people here are a little too dismissive of the impact of the USA. War weariness was bad in England France and Italy going into 1918, and the Germans had fully beaten the Russians by that point. Yes, things were also really bad in the central powers too. Still, the German spring offensives were very effective initially and us soldiers were an important part of pushing them back and then turning the tide such that the situation became truly hopeless.

Wilson waited to see which side would win so he could dictate his American exceptionalist worldview to them.

    9. Shows up late, Brings a gun that has no recoil and getting caught with its bullets can get you executed, Gun outlawed by Germans for being too aggressive, Refuses to surrender, Wins war, leaves.

I don’t want to discount the help and the sacrifice of the US involvement in WW1 but this is not true. By the time the US entered the war, the entente alliance had gained the momentum, had made considerable progress and were on their way to winning the war.

The US entering the war was not the deciding factor but it added pressure to Germany and increased the manpower the allies had at their disposal allowing them to progress faster and more efficiently. The US also contributed by adding to the allies’ manufacturing, supply and logistics. The entente were still winning though and the US entering the war did not save the day.

As it turns out you can’t talk about America during WW1 without coming across the most annoying pissing contest between Americans and Europeans ever.
