It is difficult to imagine how devastating the Civil War was and particularly this battle with 50000 casualties over 3 days, there were 7000 US KIA in 20 years in Iraq and Afghanistan with another 52000 wounded. After this battle, Abraham Lincoln gave his speech, the Gettysburg Address. When you read the speech it gives you perspective of the weight on this man and the country. Henry James did his part to help maintain the Union. Thank you Henry. He was likely buried in an unknown grave.
