    1. In 1898, [Theodore Roosevelt](https://www.reddit.com/r/HistoryMemes/s/xC8idc9YnB) resigned from his job as Assistant Secretary of the Navy to participate in the Spanish-American War. 46 years later, [Theodore Roosevelt Jr.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodore_Roosevelt_Jr.) stormed the beaches of Normandy with his men at the age of 56. Roosevelt was the only general on D-Day to land by sea with the first wave of troops. He was the oldest man in the actual invading force, and his son Quentin Roosevelt II also took part. Landing off course, TR Jr. exclaimed: “We’ll start the war from right here!” He survived the landing, and even had a Jeep named “Rough Rider” after his father’s regiment. Weeks later he died of a heart attack, and was buried at Normandy. His pallbearers included Omar Bradley & George Patton. TR & TR Jr. are the only father and son duo aside from Arthur MacArthur & Douglas MacArthur to have received the Medal of Honor, JR. receiving it posthumously.

This concludes my year and a half of Roosevelt postings here. Thanks r/HistoryMemes, it’s been real.

The Roosevelt family tree is just a collection of people who forgot to bring their fear to the battlefield.

Theodore Roosevelt Junior was later awarded the Medal of Honour for his action in D-day at Utah beach. What a brave man like his father in Cuba.

I like to picture Jr storming out of an amphibious assault vehicle on horseback with a saber drawn

Imagine having Patton and Bradley as your pallbearers. The Roosevelts really were playing a different game than the rest of us.
