The method was patented by inventor Bohland in 1921. And he opened several such establishments in America.
Roads at that time were rarely paved. The mud solidified on the bottoms and wheels of the cars in a few days.
The structure was a ribbed concrete bowl 24 meters in diameter and 40 cm deep in the center.
The pleasure was expensive for that time – 25 cents. A car wash employee was covering the radiator with a protective rubber lid. Customers entered the bowl on a ramp and started driving at a speed of just under 20 km/h.
The ribbed edges of the bowl created a vibration that caused water to spray over the car, washing away the dirt.
The wash lasted an average of four minutes.
If the customer wanted to wash the car completely, then there was a special garage for this, where there were cleaners.
On busy days, an average of about 75 cars per hour drove here.
