I had probably had half a dozen of them over the years when I was a kid. Only one ever molted. I just remember the shiny, deep red color of the spiders joints afterwards and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Are we not calling the front two legs because I see 10 appendages. I know crabs and spiders have little front nibbles that aren’t really considered legs, but homeboy is walking on them. They’re tiny, but they’re sure are leggy

What’s it feel like when it walks on you? Is it soft? Or more bristly?

    4. Aww poor thing… nothing like losing half of your limbs only to regrow them lol

I think spiders are cool but I was never truly intimidated by one until I saw a tarantula in the Amazon, and you could hear it scurrying around in the leaves. It was guarding its babies which were the size of normal spiders. I’m Australian and for a sense of scale they were the size of a medium huntsman. 100% would not poke my hand into the little cave she had excavated.

Anyone got eyes on the severed limbs to make sure they didn’t regenerate bodies?!?!?

Whoa did not know they could do that lol you go you little nightmare you 😊

    9. Actually, quite a few arthropods can regenerate lost limbs if they can survive the loss in mobility. From crabs, isopods, centipedes, and yes, to spiders. What actually kills them isn’t the loss of limb, it’s the starvation (not being able to catch supper) or predation (becoming someone else’s supper) because they can’t move as well as they would normally. As a result, the rates of recovery are significantly higher in captivity.

Spiders, and even some insects that molt can regenerate missing limbs between molts. Very cool and I’m glad this one was able to recover from that!

I didnt know they molt, and sure as hell i didnt know that they can grow limbs back…

Idk, spiders are cool, but I don’t think I could get over the fear it’s just gonna get spooked one day and bury them fangs into my soft flesh

    13. Does this mean that Spiderman can regrow his limbs?

    14. Looks like a Phormingochilus of some kind. Maybe a Hati Hati? Regardless, it’s pretty unwise to let an Asian T walk on your arm, whether its missing limbs or not. It’s definitely not missing its fangs and hurt juice. That’s the kind of thing you do with a Grammostola, but is sort of reckless to do with a Phormingochilus. Hati Hati means “be careful” in Indonesia.

If all spiders moved this slowly they wouldn’t be so scary
