Good on the cop for not resorting to shooting the dude. This is exactly the type of cop that shouldn’t retire

Cop doesn’t need to win a fight if there is no immediate risk to others, he just needs to call in for backup and delay.  He could have ended this at anytime with a bullet but had enough restraint to not kill this guy.  Retiring this guy would be a mistake, it would be better to promote him and then let him mentor newer officers.  He seems to have good judgement.

I understand pepper spray was a much better option than a gun, but wouldn’t a taser have also been a non-lethal option that could’ve taken this young fool down?

    4. Mic to the surprise of idiots, the job of cops isn’t to be a track star Starskey and Hutch winning foot races down alleys with fleeing criminals.

    5. I’m sure I watched a film where the cop refuses to retire as he gets more money for his family for death in service.

Cop should have stayed by the bike. I don’t think the guy was going to go without it

You know what they say, “If it weren’t for low standards, police would have no standards at all”

A turn around move against a slow cop in pursuit. Perp only went back for his bike. We’ve seen crazier ones on YouTube police/crime channels go back to steal the cop’s cruiser.

    9. thats why a lot of gun incident occurs, they became tired instantly, thinking is clouded by tiredness, even pride comes in game and boom

    10. It’s weird how police academies treat physical fitness as a make-or-break requirement to pass, even over academic performance, but don’t maintain those same standards once officers are out on the job. So that raises the question, are these physical benchmarks about preparing officers, or just filtering people out?

    11. Hey, a policeman not pulling out the tazer or reaching for his gun when not needed – i will laude him for being a decent cop.

All I see is one guy playing “catch the greased up deaf guy” from Family Guy.

It is not just for catching the suspect but for the safety of the officer to be physically fit. If this suspect really wanted to harm the officer he could, given how out of breath the officer was.

He did a good job leading the cop away from his bike so he could run back and get it.
