    1. We are all going to be making this exact same meme about Windows 11 in five years

    2. Wait until you see Windows Copilot, I mean 12. We will be praising Windows 11 as history repeats itself.

    3. This never happened. Most people were unhappy about windows 8(even though windows 10 is trash too)

    4. I’m still on Win 10 Enterprise. Hopefully there’ll be a good option by the time that I need to change OS again.

    5. I would choose 7 over 10 anyday, and the only reason i “upgraded” to 10, was becouse of security update

They should allow us to change what the logo looks like, similar to when on the classic iPod you could change the card backs in the solitaire game.

    7. Microsoft’s biggest advertisement for Linux is Windows 11. Windows 10 is the runner up.

It’s a matter of diminishing returns. Each OS is worse than the last, but you get years to adjust to it, to the point that by the time they’re ready to push their new, *shittier* OS on you, you don’t want to let the current, shitty-but-not-as-bad one go. Repeat until you switch to Linux or die, because you’re going to die long before Microsoft does.

I feel like this is just more so a case of, it can’t get worse than this… and it does. Windows 7 was highly regarded, windows 10 was an unfortunate adjustment for a lot of people. Windows 11 just felt like a complete let-down. Atleast windows 10 felt like a big jump, for better or for worse…

Given a choice people would still prefer to run windows 7 if MS is ready to make security updates for it.

The difference between Windows 7 and 10 is seven was easy to understand but it doesn’t have the architecture 10 does a lot of programs now need 10.

Windows 11 is just Windows 10 architecture in shitified

There’s no functional reason to upgrade or swap over to the operating system

Middle lifecycle Win 10 was solid before the Microsoft 365 push started. My daily driver is a Mac, Apple has fallen so far the last few years and are now like Windows 11.

    13. My older motherboard only supported Windows 10 (and I guess Windows 8). Not Windows 7, not Windows 11. Pretty crazy.

    14. I’m still on 7. I only switch to 10 for the occasional game that requires it.

We don’t want windows 10 to leave because it was good. We want to keep it because what comes next is even worse. Same with windows 7 to 8, 8.1 to 10.

    16. i agree win 10 was. i remember the big complaint was forcing people to upgrade when their laptop couldnt handle 10, and even if you said no, you still got pressured via unblockable notifications.

      that has since changed

Still prefer 7, but abhor 11 more than I ever did 10.

My issues before with 10 was the bloatware, and thankfully people found ways to get that under control. Now in 11 we have bloatware AND forced AI (with extreme privacy invasion alongside that). I’m perfectly fine slowing my descent into hell, thanks.

    18. meanwhile in 2036 Windows 14 rolls out and they still haven’t finished migrating win9x/NT4 control panel to Settings

    19. Cool-Signature-dude on

Still was not as good as 7, especially with all the code bloat and no backwards compatibility.

    20. Fond memories with windows 7, used to make projects with that free video editor. For 10 it was just moving the taskbar to up and no ai

    21. Ubuntu on media servers and work machines, Windows on the gaming PC solely for the anticheat requiring games.

Hopefully there is a solution to that as well by the time the next Windows comes out, so I can completely get rid of it.

    22. i remember when 10 was supposed to be the last OS…

then they decided to put spyware and AI and nonsense into it call it 11 and demand you buy a new laptop to run it…

I’m fine with win11, I did have to put some work/time into deactivating/removing all the unnecessary nonsense I didn’t want tho…

I recommend “O&O ShutUp” for win11 from their website and “Win11Debloat” from GitHub.

This is the way to be. I have long since learned that the Windows following a good release will always be terrible. Vista, 8, and now 11.

    25. That’s because since window 7 every next version is worse than previous in every way measurable.

    26. Happened with pretty much every system update to date lol.

People were crying about replacing XP with 7 too, and about replacing 2000 with XP.

    27. I still prefer 7, but happily switched to 10. About to finally getting around to figuring out how to game on Linux, in the next few years, though.

    28. HoneyWhiskeyLemonTea on

I still miss Windows XP. That was the best. Hell, as far as UI goes, I’d gladly go back to Win 3.1 over all the obtuse crap they jam into their OS these days.

      Get off my lawn.

    29. I went back to 10 after using 11 for 2 years. While I don’t see myself switching to Linux anytime soon, going back to Windows 10 is at least a step in the right direction.
