Tech bros really just spent a decade and $500 million in R&D just to reinvent the sail.

Hear me out, what if instead of polluting automotive engines, we don’t have some animal pull land veichles? Let’s see… bulls have the strength but could be too nasty in demeanor… dogs could be trained but are too small… what about… HORSES!?!? Imagine a car without motor with 2-4 horses pulling it!

The earliest recorded sailboats date back to around 3500–3200 BCE, with the earliest known depiction appearing on an Egyptian vase from 3500 BC. Egyptians used papyrus boats with sails on the Nile by 3200 B.C., likely for transport, trade, and fishing. These early vessels utilized simple sails to harness wind.
Naqada II, circa 3500-3400 B.C.

Key word is “could.” Not practical and will never happen, but it could… We could also train dolphins to pull ships. Just as likely to happen and we COULD do both.

Yes the concept is real. It’s backed by science. And it’s not the only one. None of these has seen wide adoption. Including the even weirder Wind-Assisted Ship Propulsion rotor sails. In those, the sails are tall cilinder that go weeeee and ships goes waaaaaa . Google Maersk Pelican for pics of a real ship using that.
