This right here is a perfect example of why it’s a pet peeve of mine when people call field mice rats just for effect. I wish I could go back to the days when I had no idea there was such a big difference between mice and rats. Reality is the one on your vehicle is only average size and they do come much larger.

I think he came up through the engine and tried to exit where you see him and got really stuck. He was exhausted and didn’t move much.
I tried to get him out but he was super stuck. I had to go back in to work. Came back out at lunch and he was gone.
