It’s truly amazing that they sold the patent for almost half the cost of a single vial of insulin (when accounting for inflation). The fact that a disease that was once a death sentence can be fairly easily managed for only a few dollars a day or even free in many cases! It’s both a wonder of medical science and the healthcare system as a whole.
