This is a great way to make people never want to buy digital games ever again.

it’s been confirmed a bug,
something is causing a timer meant for PS+ to show and won’t do anything
Not sure but it’s probably a bug that will be fixed soon. But who knows.

Remember when they slammed Xbox for this back in 2013? Funny how things have changed.

If your games get unplayable unless you connect each 30 days, that means 30 days after they shut down servers for your console it gets bricked, even if all your games are offline.
Which means more reason to NOT buy a console.
This was confirmed to be a backend glitch. 30 day check in for ps+ games only, as per usual.

Maybe I’m mis remembering but when Xbox rolled out the DRM before the Xbone launch and PS roasted them at the same event I remember PS said they were doing the same thing 2 weeks earlier and got backlash so they dropped it but everyone only remembers Xbox trying it.
Long story short all the game companies have been wanting to do this for ever like since they could get you to connect your console to the Internet. Especially now with Xbox all but bowing out PS needs a competitor that isn’t PC. Or we all just need to migrate to PC. Of course the AI “devolution” made that very hard for a bit. We are cooked aren’t we

The business model isn’t selling good consoles or games. The business model is selling you a subscription service and holding the console and games (which you probably don’t own anymore) hostage through and ever increasing paywall.

Don’t believe it. It’s 100% Sony testing the waters & trying to do what the xbox one got cornholed for like 10 years ago & I’m not buying another digital game till this supposed “bug” is fixed & gone…Ill just use my money for something stupid…Like rent…or food…or child support.

I still don’t get what the issue is with this, can someone genuinely explain? At least I don’t know how it is for everyone else, but I always leave my PS5 connected to the internet. And even if a Internet outage happens, those never last for an entire month. And even if it did, I could just turn on my phone’s hotspot for a second.
