3.5 years sober. It’s awesome. You’ll get there.

What’s important is to learn tools so that alcohol is not the solution.

Getting to spend time with animals can be an absolute lifesaver (like, literally) when you’re in poor mental health. Even when you’re doing okay in general and are just stressed, being around animals can be so helpful. Enjoy the alpacas and keep up the good work. Therapy, staying sober and recovery in general can be tough but it’s all worth it and I’m sure you’re doing the best you can!

    4. I’m not a religious man and I don’t attend meetings regularly, but not a day goes by that I’m not thankful that I never have to drink again.

You’re going to be amazed at how free you feel with that burden gone. Keep going dude!

I just hit 18 months and the way my life has changed has been immeasurably for the best.

    5. You can’t lie to me. You knew these dudes before. Y’all obviously go to the same hairdresser!!

Would you rather be jammed in a small room with bunk beds & several other guys ? This is a Country Club.

You got this, brother. One time I was given the opportunity to hug an alpaca and let me tell you, it’s better than any booze.

    8. As a daughter of an alcoholic and a sister to a drug addict, I’m proud of you. You deserve your best life, alpacas included.

    9. Congrats on making the big change! If you got yourself there you can absolutely get yourself out too, I believe in you!! 💪

As an alcoholic who also went pro too early and now sober, I’m sure that leads to very strange associations later in life for some 😂

    11. Bro you can do this! I’m 6 yrs sober, didn’t think I’d make a month. One day at a time bro!!!

That’s awesome. My recovery involved equine therapy. It was awesome.

Sober going on 7 years now. You got this dude.

So much for the anonymous part of AA, can’t believe you outed those alpaca. They are just trying to get clean too

    15. To be fair I have never seen a drunk Alpaca, so they must be doing something right.

I remember driving my brother to rehab and when I got back into the car alone, I was simultaneously crushed that I could not be with him to hold him the whole time and so grateful that he could get a second chance. I cried the whole way to his apartment to clean up. Filled half a dozen bags of just empty whiskey bottles.

My brother has now been sober for over 10 years and will be walking me down the aisle this upcoming July.

You’ve already completed the hardest step and that was walking through that door. So many people do not have the courage to make a decision like that and to take care of themselves. You’re doing such a great job, especially with getting on Zoloft (life saver). You can do this and just know that a random stranger on this planet is so fucking proud of you and has all the faith that you will succeed

    17. Alpaca fur is water-resistant, is very strong and comes in ~14 natural colors. I’m using it now in a weaving project.

You kinda look a little like Sam Rockwell. That’s a compliment. Stay strong through recovery, you can and already ARE doing it

The alpacas are cheering you on and this internet stranger is too. Best of luck to you and congrats on taking the first steps to having a better life!
