My best friend was rock n roll star of a one hit wonder band, but he also had a side hustle of meticulously restoring old Harleys and then riding them cross-country. He might have even ridden with the OP’s dad. The timeline checks out. Now he’s an organic farmer, but he’s such a totally respectable, low key & responsible dude that everyone who meets him now have no idea of his history or how cool he was then, or how cool he is now, even though his past has a number of extremes, like playing a show wearing nothing but a hotel bathrobe because a groupie stole his clothes and nobody knew it because he could not be woken up until less than an hour before the show.
I’m guessing that is how the OP’s dad and mom were at the time, and are today.
