    1. The Himalayan ‘weather wall’ that shapes the climate and intensifies heat across the plains isn’t going anywhere

    2. This was posted yesterday and removed, but
for context: India’s all-time officially recorded high is about 51°C (in Phalodi in 2016). Hitting 55°C would be extraordinary and record-shattering.
So: extreme heat? Very likely. 55°C forecast? Not supported by official meteorology right now.

I came back from my father’s house which is a bungalow in a relatively cooler area to an apartment on the top floor that is the 5th floor and I promise you my old AC isn’t doing shit at 43°C and my cat is panting like crazy I’m so concerned for him, I don’t know how people without any AC or coolers are managing this extreme heatwave

It’s funny to me when people complain about their phones being hot, as if it’s not 50c+ there

I live in new delhi, without AC (or any other form of air conditioner) and it’s absolute hell here. Can’t sleep at night even after stripping off all clothes and I feel like the fan is blowing loo in my room. All this combined with the infinite supply of mosquitoes, omygod life sucks right now.

Pretty sure India and Australia just ping pong back and forth on hottest place depending on seasons.

The central government is selling all the geological important forest land to corporate. Then they are planting irrelevant trees in irrelevant areas to keep the statistics levelled.

Not only that but the factories here run completely without regulations.

    8. I remember being in Kuwait in 2016 when the 53 C temp hit. We were lucky enough to have AC. Wouldnt even make the trek to go get food. Just stayed inside all day and wouldnt eat. Absolutely terrible.

    9. so far over here on the other side of the border heat hasnt been as bad as it used to thankfully, islamabad is still pretty good rn for the most part, last year was horrible though, i think islamabad peaked around 45

hell in jacobabad i remember once we stayed and it was 51C scorching, and ive heard the place gets up to 53 54

    10. Most of the people think that it’s solely because of global warming, deforestation, mining etc. yeah it does play significant role but it’s mainly because of phenomenon called el-nino. Similar thing happened in Canada around 2020 but that was air dome where warm trade winds got trapped over canada resulting in hotter weather that usual.

It’s true. living in a coastal Indian city. Its horrendous and only is getting worse every year. Humidity as always is terrible but this year its the hot winds as well.

      I can’t imagine that heat.

Western Canada , three day high winds and snowfall, some highways closed , blizzard.

A few hundred cars and occupants trapped for twentyish hours.

Minus 8 C at night, going up to 1C tomorrow.

Bored cat meowing to go out, coward only wants to stay outside three minutes.

Nice apples in your cheeks spring weather . Going ice fishing tomorrow .
