My back just let out a floppy disk clicking sound as I tried to stand up after reading this.

Calling a floppy disk a 3D-printed icon is a one-way ticket to a retirement home. My back hurts now

    3. That hurt my soul. Nothing makes you feel like an ancient relic quite like a kid calling a floppy disk a 3D-printed icon. “Hide the pain Harold is the only appropriate response here

    4. Damn~…. I wished I could say “you know kid this thing can save up to 1.4MB of files…. of excel”

If we are now the old guys what are some of the perks we get to now enjoy besides hair loss and bad backs?!

Hired a girl in her 20’s recently, showing her about the office and she pointed to the office phone on her desk and asked what it was…

I mean, it’s not what they grew up with. It makes sense that a kid would say that.
For us older folk, this is what we had.
Something that is recognzible for one generation might not be something obvious for the new kids on the block.
That’s why we need to take our time to teach them the ways that worked for us and the ways that worked for our folks when they were younger.

It’s kind of comforting to know, however, that the floppy disk was SO iconic as the save symbol that, as a SYMBOL it has far outlived its original form. Point in case, people today can recognize that symbol without even knowing what it actually is.

I’d punch him but I’m not sure what would happen with my wrist osteoporosis

    12. I don’t believe I’ve ever used a computer that had the hardware to read a floppy. I remember towers with blank plates over 2.5 bays though.

    13. I mean, that’s what it is anymore. Somehow the ancient outmoded tech that was obsolete 30+ years ago lives on in basically every productivey program in any given office space.
