If you aren’t using your company’s 401K and investing even a little bit, very early, then you are losing out on potentially millions when you are ready for retirement. I firmly believe everyone can save something. Pay yourself first.

    5. Me at 25: I need to save I will not have any disposable income before I have some savings and contribute at least 2% to a Roth IRA.

Today’s 25 y/o: look at mr charmed life : btw here is a pic of the sleeve work I’m having done before I go to bed early so I can skip dinner.

If your company does a 401k match do what they will match. Put the rest of the money you want to save long term in either an Roth IRA (pay taxes on the way in, get the rest of the money out) or an IRA (money you pull out of here gets taxed on the way out.

I do the Roth IRA, but it really depends on whether you think tax rates will be higher or lower in the future is what my professor told me. I think they’ll be higher, so Roth for me.

Both kinds of IRA have a yearly contribution limit (max of $7000 in my case) depending on your age, and if you pull money out before you’re around 60 you lose some.

Hope this helps anyone who took the time to read it.

Unless you’re like, *actually* starving and homeless, you need to be putting away for retirement. At least the employer match. Otherwise you’re robbing from future you. Don’t be in your 40s looking back at your 20s like “dude I was a moron and now I have to save way more to catch up.” The time in the market is your best friend. $1 put in at 25 is $8 at 65 accounting for inflation and taxes.

Goddd enough with this generational self pity you guys are why Boomers all make fun of us. Not saying things are great right now but almost everyone my age is dumb as hell with money and even with their blessings like brand new modernized cars their parents bought for them and the endless money they spend on DoorDash and fast food it’s hard to feel sorry for anyone who isn’t even fucking trying to save or invest. Life sucks, being an adult sucks, every generation has had a unique problem being a young adult deal with it and be thankful you’re not drafted to chemical warfare and are born in statistically the safest and wealthiest time period.

The guy complaining about being hungry should be holding an empty Starbucks cup, wearing Gucci clothes, standing in front of a 2026 he’s financing at like 20% APR.

The investing couple is wearing 2nd hand/Walmart clothes, eating a frozen dinner, driving their “new” used car that they saved and paid cash for after taking the bus for years.

Omg same sometimes I realize I forgot to take medication in the evening so I save it for tomorrow. So it takes longer before I have to buy more meds.

Dosing HHCP and HHC on a somewhat daily basis, although since Saturday, it’s been consistently daily. Gonna have to start buying both in bulk online now because Tennessee wants to outlaw them altogether.

The point is that both of those cannabinoids have made it much easier for my autistic ass to relax and sleep. I also don’t care about eating much lately. I have no idea if this is actually divine intervention or the drugs.
