I didn’t realize there was a hierarchy

    1. We gotta stop shaming people for being financially responsible and only buying within their needs, not just their means. But this is the internet so I’ll go shut up. Thanks CIA.

    2. Terrence Howard looking at you like you’re a financial failure for not financing a 40 pack of muffins. The judgment is heavy

    3. I know it is mostly a joke here, but the idea that you should spend more to feel fancy when the cheaper option is enough for your needs is dumb and a common sentiment.

That attitude keeps people poor buying stuff they don’t need just to try to buy some self esteem and status.

I only have the standard membership too ($50, and only got that because T-Mobile gave you an additional $50 if you signed up, so it paid for itself). I go maybe three or four times a year. I go to Sam’s Club much more often — less crowded and better parking.

Imagine being an adult and caring this much about something that doesn’t affect your life.

      People need better hobbies.

    6. and here i am just holding on to the basic membership because sometimes they got good deals on electronics

its right up the road, i haven’t been there in ages

Ah hell yeah, Costco is my jam. If you can have a favorite company, Costco is my favorite for doing right by people.

The price difference between the white and executive card is $65, the executive gives you 2% cash back on all purchases at Costco so you gotta spend $3,250 per year to make that upgrade free/worth it. Another thing to note, if you have the Costco credit card through Citi, that card also gives you 2% back on purchases so you can stack them for 4% back at Costco.

I usually just do the normal card ($65) and use my Citi credit card to get the 2% cash back for Costco and 5% cash back on Costco gas.

    8. Frequency of visits has nothing to do with it, it is based on spending. We make one single Costco run per month but spend enough to get ~$120 back per year which covers the membership plus a little extra.

    9. My friends, with whole families, are trying to get my single ass to sign up for Costco. I’m with ol’ boy, can’t justify the cost if you aren’t going to use it much.

    10. Niggas gotta 1up each other in every situation. I cant tell if I support this or not 🤣

    11. The fact that they’re a Nick Sirianni hate account means I’m gonna judge them regardless

Last post I saw in this sub was a guy wearing an Eagles shirt, now I see a screenshot mentioning Nick Siriani. Philly fans really causing havoc today.

    13. If you have a dog or a baby the executive pays for
Itself. Plus you can return almost anything. Just don’t abuse it.

The “Executive” membership is great, they will literally refund you a pro rated amount every year if you dont use your membership that much. That alone makes it a no brainer.

    15. The point of tiered services is that it’s built on a hierarchy. There’s always going to be someone who believes themselves to be “superior” because they have the more expensive option for a membership. You also see it amongst some people who pay for the ad free tier of streaming apps or for an amex black card.

love costco but you’ll be checking out and it’ll feel like the FBI is swarming you (it’s just one employee walking up to you lol) talking about come with me after your purchase is complete and it’s just to talk about getting an executive membership because you spent a certain amount of money that year. just leave me and my little basic membership alone, i don’t need all that!

    17. Tell me you have an executive membership without telling me you have an executive membership

    18. Thunderchief646054 on

Bruh…so yall are telling me you’ll buy a higher tier membership bc it says executive on it??

The price difference is approximately $65 / .02 dividend for $3250 total spend in store/online to break even. If you’re buying gas, you get back .05, so you need spend $2600 on fuel for the year to pay for the $130 executive membership (or $6500 sans fuel).

I heard the post office line ladies discussing and i was face palming internally as they discussed pricey weekly trips to Costco (a religion?) but only sprung for the $65 membership.
