Tomorrow’s Question: “What do you want to be when
you grow up?” Asked of little girls in 1933.

Some of these are adorable and then there’s a father that’s been taken away and a little girl that’s not sure because she keeps getting spanked for breaking dishes.

I know it was such a different time, but it never ceases to shock me that they would put a child’s picture, full name, and home address/cross-streets IN THE NEWSPAPER 😬

I didn’t realize how common “sissy” was an insult for little boys back then until recently. Like I knew, but I didn’t know HOW much.

I just found a newspaper clipping of my g-gma wanting to cut my gpa’s hair when he was a baby, and his brother protested. Their mom was like “you don’t want him to be a sissy, do you?” 😳🤣 the brother replied, “Sampson had long hair and he wasn’t a sissy!” which apparently mom thought was a fair point and told the newspaper about it
