    1. loved this cast, Haley and Bruce were magnificent! I loved the plot twist, too. Great film!

    2. Haley Joel Osment is great – wish we could see more of him. I’m still pretty sad that Oasis was never made into tv series it was supposed to be.

    3. This was the moment I figured out the twist. “They don’t know they’re dead” and I immediately went back to the opening scene of him getting shot and having that weirdly calm moment on the bed after.

A movie that you watch twice. You go back to see what you missed once you know the ending.

Wait, does the kid know Bruce Willis is dead while this conversation is going on? If so, I don’t think I caught that until just now 😂

    6. “Like in The Sixth Sense you find out that the dude in that hair piece the whole time, that’s Bruce Willis the whole movie!”

    7. I never saw this movie because the twist got ruined for me like the first week it came out. Is it worth watching still?

It’s one of the biggest twists of all time. You find out that the dude in that hair piece the whole time, that’s Bruce Willis the whole movie.

    9. Edit: A LOT of young folks in these comments spoiling this fantastic film for themselves.

I showed this to my daughter last year for the first time. She’s 17. I just said, “You *have* to see this once in your life. And if you go Googling it, you’ll absolutely ruin it for yourself. You can only have this experience once in this way. Trust me.”

It absolutely blew her away and she immediately started telling friends to watch it, “But DON’T Google it!”

    10. Seeing Bruce Willis’s unblinking stare, I can’t help but think of Butch Coolidge from Pulp Fiction at Marcellus bar every single time.

    11. I don’t care what Shyamalan does or doesn’t do for the rest of his career, he’s one of the GOATs for this one.

Didn’t we see him die at the start of the film though? So… it’s supposed to be this notorious twist ending but from my recollection we saw him die in the opening scene anyway.

    13. This is an amazing performance with nuance from a very young Haley Joel Osment. He’s here to portray courage in the face of overwhelming terror.

    14. This is probably the only Reddit thread where I can tell this story.

I saw this film when it first aired without being spoiled. The little girl who’s mom was making her ill gave Cole a box. It’s a super vintage wooden box circa 1930s with a red bakelite band on the top, lined in red velvet with a mirror inside the lid. I sold that box at the Pasadena flea market to a prop lady about a year before the film aired. I’ve never seen another like it before or since. The friend who was with me was my business partner and remembered that box too when I pointed out. I used to use it to hold tarot cards, but ended up having to downsize tons of personal possessions after a divorce. I let it go because it honestly creeped me out a little bit. It had an energy I didn’t really like.

    15. According to the DVD commentary track, the scene details and plot twists were meant to be enjoyed when you re-watched the movie.
