The Olympic was the older sister of the famous ships Titanic and Britannic, both of which sunk incredibly early in their careers (one on the first day, one before it even officially began) and became famous (or infamous) for it. Ironically it was the less advanced, less famous, and older Olympic that survived and had one of the most batshit careers of any passenger liner, including:
– ALMOST sinking in her first year after accidentally smashing into the HMS Hawke when it drew her into its wake
– Rushing like a lunatic to save Titanic passengers even though it was on the opposite side of the ocean (though Carpathia rescued them first)
– Fighting in Gallipoli and surviving despite being a valid war target while her larger and more advanced sister Britannic, a hospital ship and thus not even a valid target of war, died after hitting a mine
– Spotted a uboat during the war and instead of running, just went ahead and fucking rammed it, sinking an actual ship of war as a civilian liner
– Survived the entirety of WW1 despite stupidly low odds
– Smashed into a THIRD ship by getting lost in dense fog and accident pulverizing the Nantucket
– Operated for over 20 years until 1935 despite, once again, both of her sister ships dying before 1917

Olympic is based.
Any context for this Dr. Who clip though? All I’m seeing is a sad twink yelling at what seems to be an ork’s face in a star

Cool meme, but I don’t get British drama. This is drama right?

My great grandparents crossed the Atlantic on the Olympic in 1930. Good thing she didn’t sink on that crossing. My grandfather wasn’t born yet.

The Titanic was the _RMS_ Titanic and the Olympic was the HMT Olympic whilst being in military service and RMS Olympic outside of it, still a decent meme though

Olympic wasn’t going to be a victim.
