Someone better be handicapped in that house because holy overkill otherwise

Reminds me of those old tube canisters they used to have at the drive through banks.

Honestly feels like one of those things you don’t need until u really do aging, injuries or just hauling heavy stuff. Still kinda overkill but also kinda cool

So it only has exits on first and top floor, I guess that makes sense to save time climbing stairs if you’re elderly

I grew up near some pretty up scale beach towns and remember when I got hired with the private ambulance service that serviced the county, going in to a lot of homes in those towns for *very* rich elderly people and a lot would have elevators in their homes. It was wild to me at first but made since for them since they had the money for it. One elderly woman tried to tip me $100 for taking her to the hospital after she fell and broke her hip and of course I could not accept it but at the time I was like, damn! That was almost what I made in 12hrs!

Cousin’s wife had MS. By the time it got bad they needed to install an elevator in the house. I’m assuming something like that here…

I remember watching a JerryRigEverything video where he was installing an elevator like this (only two floors) for his handicapped wife.

I saw this elevator at the end of Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory.

Did you get permission to take and post this photo? Because I’d be pissed if my plumber or whoever posted a picture from inside my house on Reddit.

With that many floors in that setup, this is probably easier than installing one of those chair lifts if you have an elderly person. Plus when you need to sell the house this is probably a selling point rather than a chairlift which the buyer might want you to rip out

That’s a pneumatic elevator. It uses vacuums and air pressure to lift and lower it.
Even if the power goes out, you will not get stuck, but instead slowly and safely descend downwards as it loses pressure.
Very cool.
