Example? I’m not a fan of IGN either but it’d be nice to know what you’re talking about.

They probably gave the masterpiece a seven because it had too much water or some other nonsense

    3. That’s because the game didn’t write AssGN a good ol’ fat juicy cheque. That alone makes you lose 2-3 points

They don’t review games, they review the size of the gift bag at the launch event.

The only game I’ve seen getting equally shit on by every “””Gaming Review Site””” is Fallout 76. It was deserved but surprisingly an exception.

    6. That’s because indie games are inherently terrible awful garbage and don’t deserve praise unlike these AAA game companies who deserve all of our admiration and money

    7. Maybe the real reason is because they know how much they benefit from the outrage. The only IGN reviews I ever see are the ones that people loathe so much they go viral. Bad games getting high scores, good games getting low scores, and the internet blows a blood vessel in rage: suddenly, everyone’s talking about IGN.

Even if you disregard how much the studio bribed them they still write for clicks not for content. Anything that baits a viewer in be it a perfect score or a surprisingly bad one. They get paid the moment traffic loads the ads on the page.

You don’t even have to read anything…. but if you do you might notice something like half of them doesn’t even seem like they played the same game or are focusing on some tangential thing for drama … Like woke vs antiwoke discussions. Completely meaningless to the game but brings in engagement commenters on both sides instantly.

      Engagement>clicks>content.

    9. Literally gave Marathon and Concord a 9, but Crimson Desert only a 6. Iirc, wasn’t it also IGN that came out with a kind of harsh review for Elden Ring or its DLC that basically boiled down to “I’m bad at the game, so it’s trash”?

    10. A review is an opinion. You’re not going to agree with every review by definition. A half-decent reviewer will be able to communicate their priorities while also describing their experience with the game itself, helping you figure out whether you’d potentially enjoy it even if they did not.

The number at the bottom is arbitrary and meaningless.

They gave Duke Nukem Forever and Alien Isolation the same score.

      Let that sink In.

    12. Meme should just say when IGN gets paid for a review and when IGN doesn’t get paid for a review.

    13. How are they still afloat ?

Genuine dog shit compagny that “reviews” games based on how much they got payed , if they aren’t payed off some dickwad that can’t play video games to save his life , sees it as a chore and who’s highest life achievement is owning a pair of pantaloons is going to leave pile of vomit mascaraded as a review.
I loath this company, they are a case study of parts of society that are a failure.

Okay…the Mouse PI game probably deserves a 6, the accompanying review is just annoying.

    15. To this day I use their Explorers of Sky review of 4.9 as my proof that their opinion is invalid lol

I thought their review for Boltgun was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. They ended it with “The gunplay feels amazing, but the game won’t appeal to those who don’t like Warhammer or retro shooters. 7/10”
Can you imagine if they reviewed Arkham City like that? “Every aspect of the game is literally perfect, but people who don’t like Batman or action games might feel a bit let down. 7/10”
