    1. There are probably still ten thousands of paintings of such a ‘gypsy’ woman in Dutch households. Been very popular stereotype in the past.

      BTW “Gypsy Girl” is just a nickname. No basis for it being a Gypsy woman.

      Zeugma (formerly Seleucia) was founded by an Alexander successor. It’s almost directly north of Aleppo.

      If anyone knows people from this area, they can look exactly like this girl

    3. Gentle reminder that “gypsy” is widely regarded as a slur.
      Also, personal opinion: The stereotyping was strong with the one who named that one. While we are playing stereotypes: Best guess is that the namer was white, male, and in roughly their forties to fifties, if this is a fairly recent discovery.
