Just like Rome, it ain’t a king if it’s an emperor

The majority of people wanted stability for themselves and their families more than they cared about any specific political ideology. Before being crowned emperor, as consul of the republic, Napoleon’s domestic policies and continuity did provide a much more stable day to day life for the common people. They’d rather keep him as emperor than continue with the constant whiplash of changing revolutionary governments.

To Napoleon’s credit, he did preserve many aspects of the French Revolution, and even the later Bourbon Restoration wasn’t a complete return to the ancien regime

What I find intriguing is that, even with all the wars and such Napoleon got involved against the rest of Europe, not even once did the other great powers tried some subterfuge tactic like trying to assassinate him.
At least they had the brain to know that turning Napoleon into a martyr would be much worse than dealing with him while he was alive.

The French Revolution was a failed, murderous parody of the American Revolution.

Upon learning that Napoleon had proclaimed himself emperor, Beethoven renamed a play he was making in tribute to him.
