That is terrifying!! You don’t think it’s that bad, until the water begins to reach them.

    2. Terrifying how the water just keeps on rising relentlessly in this constantly growing wave of destructive water.

I remember watching this unfold live on tv. Happened morning time in uk. It was second only to the twin towers for that sense of shock of what was unfolding right before your eyes.

    4. Never tire of watching the horror of this event. Fascinating and terrifying in equal measure. The sense of impending dread must have been overwhelming for them.

Being in one of those buildings must have been one of the most frightening experiences ever.

The tsunami itself is absolutely clench ya bum cheeks scary, but the cold as well, if you fell in and somehow managed to cling to something the temperature would snatch the life right out of you.

    7. Absolutely terrifying. I couldn’t even imagine. I think about stuff like this sometimes. Where would I even go? Where could I even try and escape to? All my stuff would be gone, etc

    8. There are tons of videos about it on YouTube and I watched a lot of them. The scariest thing is, in most of them it starts very calmly, a bit of water rolls along and you think „oh, ok, I would have time to pack stuff and escape into safety“. And then a minute later a fucking house comes floating by and you start to realize which unfathomable pressure force is at work there. Nature is terrifying.

As someone who lives a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean waves, all I can say is life here is like a game of roulette. You knowingly take your chances and don’t wus out if nature decides your number’s up.

    10. That is so completely mind blowing. I mean, wow… that entire building went underwater to the roof.

Can you imagine dealing with this shit in ancient Japan? Like, holy shit, how did they get anything done over there?

Damn. I feel like the gradual build is way more terrifying than a 10 story wave. At least with a wave that high you’d know you’re fucked very soon. The slow then fast then very fucking fast flood gives a false sense of “it can’t reach us we’ll be fine”.

How calm they still were, with just small whimpering…with no where else to go….unbelievable devastation

    14. I remember watching this when we lived in Shanghai, the saddest memory is of a car with the wipers going being dragged to the ocean. You just knew someone was in that car.
