Chernobyl can also be described as – Communists are too embarrassed to admit they fucked up boiling water, make everything worse to cover up.

Not just that. The wasted is also a problem that is yet to be solved, if that’s even possible.

Chernobyl would’ve been a billionaire blunder if it happen today (The reactor was made as cheaply as possible, and the operator was following orders even when he should’ve shut it down or ACTUALLY KNEW THE RISKS.)
He would be concerned about lossing his job if he aborted the test. He wouldn’t know the issues about the reactor and possible failure cause that would be a company’s trade secret.
Chernobyl was caused by a lack of checks on the ruling/operating body and the 20th and 21st century desire to be as cheap as possible now matter what. Not communism

Them: You’re afraid of nuclear power because of Chernobyl? What a loser
Me: I don’t trust nuclear power because have you met your fellow Americans? or Billionaires, or the US Government? You want to put THOSE idiots in charge of a new nuclear power plant?
Holymaryfullofshit7 on
Nuclear energy is way too expensive. Even if you have a place to store the material afterwards. That’s the actual argument these days. Yes dangers exist etc. but the main argument why we definitely shouldn’t build new nuclear plants it’s because it’s astronomically expensive compared to every other form of producing energy.
And for those who say but but France, it’s a state run operation that’s horrendously in debt.

The Chernobyl disaster happened because they were cutting costs on safety measures, just like how they cut costs with Fukushima and Three Mile Island.
