I was pretending to cut my hair with scissors when I was a kid and accidentally cut a small little chunk of my ear off on the top part of the ear.
You can still clearly see the dip in my ear where the cartilage is missing.
I was 7 or 8 when it happened and I’m 36 now.

To play devils advocate here – they’re different wounds. Assuming it is true, and it was the worst case scenario they gave us, he didn’t have a gouge taken out of his ear. It was a graze causing a small cut, which healed up just fine because the human body is very adept at healing small cuts.
It’s inane to compare it having a whole chunk of the ear removed, because the human body is *not* very good at healing things that aren’t there anymore.
