She didn’t care enough to find out they were pets, she didn’t care enough to realize that the force she threw the animal into the water was harmful and she didn’t care enough to realize that a sudden temperature difference for an ectothermic animal can be lethal.
She’s an animal abuser by being ignorant.
If she “cares very deeply” about marine animals, perhaps she should take the time to learn about them before her next attempt to ‘free’ an animal.
