It must’ve been both terrifying and relieving to be personally aided by Hitler

To provide historical context, Adolf Hitler had a mother (Klara Hitler) who he adored deeply. His father was abusive meaning Klara was his only form of parental protection and affection, she often doted on Hitler and spoilt him even supporting his artistic passion and ambition.

When she was diagnosed with Breast cancer in January 1907, the doctor Eduard Bloch aided and provided immense care for his mother, often lowering or wavering fees out right whilst also supporting his mother with great kindness. Hitler wouldn’t forget this kindness as when the Gestapo began their systematic terrorising of Jews in Austria, Eduard would be spared and given the title of Edeljude (noble jew) by Hitler. Hitler ordered the Gestapo to protect and ensure Edward’s safety and later would help Eduard emigrate to the USA along with all his assets in the 1940’s

The story of Eduard and Hitler personally has always muddled me. It’s no doubt that Hitler despised Judaism and Jewish people with his whole heart, we quite literally have a book detailing his hatred of them. However the fact that the love of his mother blinded the level of hate he held is at the very least interesting
