From the start the movement was a backlash against “experts” and “the elites” not in the sense of actual economic elites or rich NY Penthouse Hollywood Actors like Trump, but educated and moral people who were telling MAGA their existing beliefs, values and worldview was immoral and/or incorrect.
It’s part of why COVID radicalized so many. They kept getting told to trust “experts” in ways that were inconvenient or harmful, and they just wanted to shut them all up.
The fact that Trump was in charge in this period and actually implemented the laws, has been erased from their memories.
