    1. I am an atheist and I have been very open in criticising the wrong doings of every religion including Islam. But I have never mocked any religion. The wrong here is mocking a religion, mocking someone’s beliefs.

Where the fuck does this madeup bullshit come from? I have literally never in my life met an atheist that defends Islam. Every single one I’ve met just didn’t give a fuck about religion in general and that was it.

I’ll mock Islam when it wont distract from the imperialism going on. Which is far worse than my criticism of any religion

When I was younger, I found it fun to mock people for thinking differently than me, as if my righteous indignation was a badge of honor

I’ve since learned that everyone has their own journey, and being a dick for the sake of being a dick leads to a very bitter and lonely life

Now, I try to not mock people in general. I’m far from perfect, but I’m a lot happier now

Am I missing something? Cuz everytime I’m on Reddit I see Islam get the same amount of hate as any other religion. I don’t know were this idea that atheists on Reddit are ok with bashing on Christianity and Judaism but draw the line with Islam, especially since I can across like 5 anti-Islam post just this morning.

Literally never heard of an atheist who is afraid to criticize Islam? What even is this? Atheists don’t believe in any religion.

    7. We should not mock, but criticize them all for interfering in state matters.

The ones we should all mock together are the flat earthers

No I mock all religions. They are all stupid. However as an atheist I can also admit not all religions are equally bad

    9. TBF, What will Christians do to me? Forgive me to death? Feels like mocking Islam is a bit more dangerous.

    10. I’m hardly a rabid antitheist (though I did have a bit of a phase in high school), but this is very disingenuous.

      Most Redditors are American.

The US is a culture which is predominantly Christian, with a far-right Christian Nationalist movement dominating much of the country’s political landscape.

American Reddit atheists are surrounded by this culture. Most of them have probably never even met a Muslim. Therefore, they are much more likely to criticize the religion they have been extensively subjected to rather than the one they’ve only read about second-hand.

I’m sure that Christianity being astronomically more culturally relevant and popular in Western society has nothing to do with it. 50 years ago I bet you 90% of Americans have never even met a Muslim.

    12. Is this what you tell yourself to sleep at night? I’ve never met an atheist who selectively picks and chooses which religions get some sort of free pass.

    13. I have no problem mocking Islam IF I’m not in a very religious Islamic country.

It’s a stupid comparison because it’s like saying I can’t criticize my own government if I don’t dare to criticize the Chinese government in China or some shit

yeah no I’ve never met an atheist who will criticise one religion and not another, holy strawman

    15. TheTrekkie1701 on

I mean, it’s like complaining about hurricanes in Antarctica. Sure, they’re bad too, but I think the nonstop snowstorms surrounding you might be more relevant day to day.

    16. I’m an atheist, I don’t really care about mocking Christianity, other than the basic “obviously there’s no big sky daddy” and the extremist christians that are way into it, I have absolutely no problem mocking Islam however, I am now brave to you according to your post’s title

    17. Quwapa_Quwapus on

Idk man, 99% of Atheists I know of are either:

“Fuck every religion its all a cult”

      or

“idgaf either way do whatever you want”

Not many people pick and choose

    18. inaparalleluniverse1 on

as a Muslim let me assure you, there is no shortage of “criticism” of Islam

    19. People missing the point, it’s easy to criticize Christianity/islam in predominantly Christian countries or online, but try criticizing Islam in an Islamic country.. yeh I think not if you wanna continue living..
