One of my kids’ Crocs got wedged in front of a heat vent for a day or so….and shrunk.

Crocs are made of PEVA, a thermoplastic. Thermoplastics are called that because they become melty when exposed to heat, and just like a sweater washed in hot water, the strands will tighten closer together as it cools, making it shrink.

One thing you can try is putting it in boiling water (to heat it safeyl & evenly), then have your kid wear thick or multiple layers of socks and walk around in it to stretch it out while it’s warm.

Put it in front of the AC and It should grow back to its natural born size

I used to live in AZ and one summer day one of my kids left his crocs in the back yard, next day they were about 3 sizes smaller lol. Luckily they shrunk down to fit little bother so I didnt have to toss them.

I accidentally did this to my daughter’s crocs years ago. I would wash them in the washing machine every couple weeks cuz they got gross during the summer months (which generally works great) but accidentally put them in the dryer with some other stuff and they were like shrinky dinks lol

I left mines in trunk for a few week in Vegas summer and I couldn’t fit them anymore

It’s like that time Mr. Krabs put squeaky boots in the frier and shrank and ate them.

When crocs first came out, they encouraged users to heat them in the oven to shrink to size. But people eventually liked the loose ill fittingness of it… plus the sheer ugliness of it. Idiotic people…. like me.

    8. I found this out when my kid stepped in dog poo and I left the one croc in the sun to dry after I cleaned it off.

I had put mine outside in sun to dry.., I never knew they were shrinky dink material. Common sense heat makes rubber expand

I have a pair of knock-offs that have insoles. For standing at work. I cleaned the insoles and left them in the sun to dry. Now they’re like three sizes smaller than the shoe 😩

Reminds me of the time that my Galaxy brain thought using a hair dryer inside of a shoe would help it dry faster.

It worked but it also shrunk the insoles and made the hotel room stink

This happened to mine – I wore a pair of nlack ones as gardening clogs and left them on the back step to the house in July, which gets a lot of sun. 2 days later they decreased by about 2 sizes.

      My wife enjoys them now.

    13. Lol Daughter’s boyfriend had this happen when he left his cross on the dash of the car while at a water park

    14. Is this how they make all Crocs? They start out as Shaq size and then get set under heat lamps for different times to get each size?

    15. Apparently this is a thing. Happened to mine just being left outside in the sun.

Read somehwere that you can boil them then stretch them back out by wesring them (over socks so you don’t burn your feet)

Probably easier to just replace though

I believe Crocs was or is being sued for this. A couple years ago they changed their plastic recipe, and now the shoes do this. They didn’t used to

I wonder if I could do this to my old Crocs and give them to my kids. What’s the consistency like OP?

I had this happen, but not as much.  I thought there was something seriously wrong with my foot.

I left a pair of Crocs in my car as an emergency change of shoes during the summer… they shrunk a ton and I just donated them lmao
