Hoping this new generation learns how dumb the “no snitching” rule is.

Im standing by the idea that “Snitch” culture also did irreversible damage to the community as well

Cant report robberies, Rape, drug dealings cause then you are a snitch, so that shit does unpunished cause people want to keep their reputation

“Old folks get mugged and raided, crimes are drug-related
And we live by the street rules that thugs created” 🎶 🎶

    3. If you did me wrong, I’m snitching. You can call me out from behind the bars idc, just don’t f with me

    4. I’m just staying out of others business. If it’s a crime done to me, maybe I’m calling the police but I’m not trying to involve them if I don’t need to.

    5. ‘No snitching’ destroys everything. It’s in law enforcement, the military, politics. Its in every walk of life. We shouldn’t just call out our community when it’s prevalent all throughout society.

    6. Real talk. The code only seems to benefit the people doing the most damage while everyone else suffers in silence

Criminal and Prison culture is black culture because our heroes are criminals and ex-convicts.

Combine that with a janky Matriarchal society… black people are cooked.

    8. Internal_Style6581 on

Yeah but who you gonna snitch to? I’m not involving police. What you gonna do when they don’t do anything and you are now the snitch?

    9. I think it’s more nuanced than that. If you’re the victim, then it’s not snitching but if you’re involved in the crime or part of a criminal enterprise and become a victim as part of that criminal enterprise then you should handle it by the rules you all agreed to. The rest of us who are not a part of than life or those that have moved out of that criminal life can use any means to get restitution for anything done against us.

It’s not “Street Code” though? No “Tattletales” has been a thing for Centuries. It was in 1950s Gangster movies long before Gunna and Young Thug came along.

It’s just part of a whole Code of Honour that has been baked into all our relationships from the playground, to the Church and our own families. It’s the pillar that holds up Loyalty as a concept and it’s bullshit.

The loyalty and honour that your silence maintains just leads to exploitation and abuse. I’m not saying go tell an actual Policeman, but there’s no such thing as snitching. No snitching only benefits the criminal and the abuser, literal or figurative.

    11. Recently I’ve been thinking that all “silent social contracts” exist to uphold a culture which propagates child abuse.

    12. The street code and gangs in general are a result of an untrustworthy police force. When a group of people feels like it cannot rely on an official police force for protection they will make their own protection force. This usually exhibits as “gang” activity. Gangs do all the activities of local governments. They collect taxes, educate youth, apply force to enforce the laws etc.

    13. Mane most folks that believe in it don’t even be in the streets. Snitching is engaging in a crime and telling on the people you did the crime with to get a lighter sentence.

Most folks in the streets that get hemmed up snitch. Most criminal cases are resolved through plea deals.

The worst part is the people you don’t think snitched are the main snitches. People ain’t gonna call em out is because if they a shooter they gonna shoot yo ass woody for example.

It’s way more nuanced than a personal code or some nonsense for some people though. Depending on where you live, there can be actual consequences if it’s known that you’re the person that “snitched”.

    15. Something I saw recently, I think also on this sub is that no snitching only applies to people in the life. If you commit a crime against an unaffiliated individual, you cannot be surprised when they go to the police.

    16. Level_Target_178 on

      Agreed. I can’t stand it. It’s stupidity.

Let’s see…No snitching means protecting criminals, bad behavior, black genocide, counter productive ghetto foolishness, killing and robbing black communities, and covering bad actors that stereotypes all black people, etc.

Feel free to miss me with all of that. I care about our people. I’m snitching. Expeditiously.

The street life is so cooked

It’s time to pack the shit up and memorialize it in museums and shit

Let’s start going to school and getting jobs

    18. My dad used to smuggle cocaine and told me thst snitching was when you are part of committing the crime and not what the bs that was being told I was a kid.

No snitching is just a twisted version of what snitching actually is.

    19. Sad-Entertainer1462 on

No snitching in the street should be limited to “don’t do dirt with your mans and then tell law enforcement so that you can get reduced sentencing.” THAT should be punished in the street by street codes. Everything else ? I’m telling…..

I think that its mostly people wanting to save their own asses, however i cant help but notice that the American justice system doesnt exactly believe in rehabilitation. So I cant really blame someone for not wanting to feed their loved ones to the maw of the beast.

    21. I always thought snitching was when we all got caught but someone told more and tied up all the loose ends for a deal or favorable treatment. Reporting crime isn’t snitching

    22. Telling the folks who’ll happily come kill me instead feels equally unproductive. Almost like law enforcement is for some people to feel safe, not all.

    23. People need to understand that street culture only applies to you if you’re in a gang lmao I see kids in the suburbs 2 story house both parents around talking about some “I can’t tell nobody that’s snitching”

    24. You have people that have never done any street related activities talking about not snitching.

40+ year olds living by some fake code that don’t even apply to their lives in any way.

You work in accounting Calvin. You not a gangster. It’s ok to tell the authorities if you been violated.

    25. No Snitching culture is bad. But it’s also bad when giving the cops any excuse to come into the neighborhood causes more problems for the innocent. If that happens, it’s hard to the neighborhood if they revert back into no snitching.

    26. I have no problem with what some call snitching. But I do have a problem with the police. They can’t be trusted to do what’s right for our community.

So where does that leave us? Well, I also have no problem with a community force, similar to the BPP, who we can trust to talk to and who will deal with people causing issues in our community – and have the weapons to back it up. I think we need more of them and less of traditional police forces patrolling our neighborhoods and misjudging our people.

This would be a different convo if the police were competent or cared enough to properly police black neighborhoods. Civilians calling the cops wont help if they never show up or do absolutely nothing when they do come.

    28. SnooShortcuts4206 on

The crazy part is that “street” guys and criminal orgs snitch all the time. It’s not even rare.
