Russian Tsar Nicholas II & German Kaiser Wilhelm II wearing the respective uniforms of each others countries on the deck of the SMS Deutschland, 1907. 7 years before their countries would be at war. During WWI Wilhelm would finance the revolutionaries that overthrew & killed Nicholas (7353×5043)

Small correction; the Bolsheviks didnt overthrew Nicholas II, he already abdicated. They hoped the Bolsheviks would overthrow the Provisional Government that continued their ‘obligation’ to the entente to continue the war, which they did.
Briefly before the war the nephews begged eachother in writing to do everything in their power to prevent a war. Which is curious cause if they really wished to do so they could but the die has been cast when they gave their backing to Serbia/Austria-Hungary and when one side mobilised it was basically the same as declaring war outright.
