Fun Fact: Ba’al wasn’t just the name of a specific storm god (the Canaanite version of Hadad), but also a title awarded to multiple gods, since it literally just means “lord” or “master”. There’s verses in the Bible referring to multiple Ba’als.

Ah yes another meme which implies these religions all independently reached the same conclusion instead of all of them cribbing off the first and oldest one.

There is evidence of child sacrifice among the Phoenicians. It doesn’t appear to have been routine, the way it is portrayed in Jewish mythology. But it did happen.

      Why is it false?

Cause our religion says so and its the true one

      LITERAL BARS😱

    5. Ba’al was an elohim. Elohim was originally a plural noun in hebrew not just another nickname for the judeo-christian god as it’s more commonly used now. like all hebrew words with the suffix “-im”. “El” was the supreme deity in a pre-canaanite pantheon that was father of the elohim, including Ba’al & Yahweh before he got his spinoff series.

Funny when you consider that their shared god: Yahweh/El was Ba’al hadad’s father in the Canaanite, Mesopotamian and Sumerian faiths.

What It’s funny is that probably the rituals around Ba’al stopped human sacrifices in a certain moment but the enemies of Phoenician people still used It as a narrative against them. It’s too early to talk about propaganda but It’s funny that in times of the Punic Wars it’s highly possible Carthaginian people stopped doing such rituals yet when Hannibal terrorized Italy the Romans sacrificed an humongous obese baby to the sea. Ironic.

    8. Asif they independently made that conclusion instead of yk…. Copying the same ONE oldest tradition, whose tribes might had been at war with the tribes of Ba’al worshippers?😂

    9. So Ba’al *is* a god, just not the right one?

He couldn’t demand the blood of your children otherwise, Shirley?

Is Roman Neo-Paganism (Neo Roman Paganism?) particularly interested in the Ba’als?

Baal was not a God, but a title. Baal means Lord, the God’s name was Moloch, which yes he was a BAAL but also were Baal-Zebul, Baal-Peor, etcetera and only one demanded child sacrifices (Baal-Moloch).

Curious fact: YWHW and Eli were also part of the Baal, being YWHW married with Asherah before Josías schism (like the Akenaton in Egypt, but in a monotheistic instead of henotheistic way) they were refered as Elohim (plural) before YHWH and Eli becoming the same God and Asherah becoming a pagan goddess.

Considering what these religion did along the centurie, this Baal guy might be interesting and probably a better option. Oh, he promotes cannibalism? Really? OK, NEXT!
