This is the giant golden crown winged flying fox, a species of megabat to the phillippines. They can have a wingspan of upto 1.7 metres(5.6 feet) & weigh upto 1.5kg. They are, luckily, non aggressive in nature & are herbivores.

I don’t get why people are afraid of bats, this one literally looks like a dog with wings. Imagine training one lmao, you get a pet and a UAV

    2. straight up looks like a vampire that forgot to turn back before sunrise. i’m just glad they’re strictly into fruit because if those things ever developed a taste for anything else, we’d basically be living in a real-life castlevania.

The Indian flying fox is similarly sized. They screech in the evenings and nights in territorial fights when they’re feeding and preparing to roost for the night.

    4. I know bats are very good animals for us, but if I see that size bat chilling out next to my motorcycle, I will be walking that day.

Hello from india, live in one of the major metro cities and in the heart of the city and we have these on the tree right outside my balcony and they love swapping through my balcony at night 😭😭 safe to say I do not use my balcony after dark no matter how non-aggressive and herbivorous they may be – it’s the most frightening thing to witness up close

    6. hell. no. thank you. which way is back where I came from round eye? thank you, good bye.

Okay, so Bram Stoker was Filipino, fascinating

    7. A lot of these places snip the wings so the bats cant fly away. Its a real shame to do to such a beautiful animal

Saw loads of flying foxes in the Maldives. Some trees covered in them. They took flight at sunset. And that’s the only place I have ever seen them.

    9. We had bats in our garage when we moved in, used to fly around at outside at dusk…sadly gone now..

So big of an animal and so lightweight. No wonder they can fly while us as humans with wings contraptions never can. We are 70times heavier.

    11. That man in the last photo should go a bit further, then it would be even bigger than him.
