
This gold head of the falcon god Horus, lord of the sun and patron deity of kingship, was discovered beneath the floor of the main chamber of his temple in Hierakonpolis, Egypt. The eyes are inlaid with obsidian. Old Kingdom, ca. 2345-2181 BCE, now housed at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo [514×954]

How was this worn? I see is has small holes at the base. Was it part of a crown?
