    1. Republicans elected Trump because they support pedophilia and don’t want him to face consequences for fucking children.

    2. Too bad Gary Hart was not a good grifter, liar and pedophile. He would have been president otherwise for sure.

Back then Republicans actually ran on policies, legislation, and regulations…

Now they run on Fear, Hate, and Racism, and that’s more important to them now than anything else.

“VOTE FOR US OR THE GAY IMMIGRANTS THAT STOLE YOUR JOB WILL TURN YOUR CHILDREN TRANS!!!! OOOOOGIE BOOOOGIE!!! BE AFAID, WE ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN PROTECT YOU!!!”

    5. And more than 8 times the number of times “God” appears in the Bible (King James Version, but probably the same or similar for others)

    6. Dude I remember this being a story when I was a kid… didn’t quite get it, but lots of kids gave updates during their current events topics.

    9. GOP Rule: if you’re going to cheat on your wife and still be allowed to run for president, it has to be with a porn star or a child.

    10. Gary Hart isn’t an entertainer who appeals to the lowest common denominator audience- you can’t sell sneakers with Hart’s face on them.

The key to Trump’s success is that he is an entertainer who operates by the rules of show business- he stays in the headlines by doing one outrageous thing after another, because staying in power means staying relevant.

He is a whole different species of politician compared to all theses Ivy League graduates with memberships in elite secret societies and law degrees- all of the old rules of political science simply do not apply when you’re dealing with a fundamentally different kind of political animal.

The law school geeks in both parties who are in power can see it, some of them have tried to emulate Trump – they’ve all failed, because it’s hard to learn the trade of theatrical showmanship in a matter of weeks- and they’re terrified of a wave of entertainer politicians following Trump.

In much the same way that Rome was never the same after Caesar crossed the Rubicon, the United States will not be the same after Trump. The old guard will try to prevent a wave of sleazy demagogues from usurping them -hence the constant fear mongering about “populism” that demonstrates how out of touch they are- but that wave of sleazier politicians is coming and the existing political class would rather slowly die than grow a backbone and sacrifice themselves for the future of this country.

We’ll eventually overcome the sleazy wave of crooks, but it’ll be a long and hard journey that requires this nation to come to terms with materialism, greed, laziness, and selfishness.

    11. Is anyone here old enough to remember the infamous “*YHAAaaaa!*” from Democratic front runner Howard Dean? He was leading all the polls till he got too excited. People back then deemed him un-presidential and even unhinged. That’s why I knew for certain Trump wasn’t going to win in 2016. He was the **least** presidential candidate this country has ever seen. I underestimated just how much people hated Hillary – and women in general.
